It's not all in their pc's. Todays CSS update proves that there are issues with 4 core machines other than the user errors. Heck, i had issues on CSS. Whenever i opened server browser, game became unplayable. I had nothing out of ordinary, only rate, cmdrate and updaterate set and still the game ran like crap. Then i started it with -autoconfig, saved settings and never had the issue since. It seems that there are some cvars that do not go to default values untill a hard reset is made by the user. Anyway, this is kind of off topic so i won't be talking about this further. It's not a server related issue.

If he has a quad core and he only gets 20 fps then he has a seriously fubard
pc. My pc is 12 months old, quad intel with ati 4800 series gfx and I still
get 200+ fps with vsync off, but then again I keep my PC clean and tidy
don't install crap that bloats it and always use the windows update drivers
not the latest from ati/nvidia.
Seriously backup his data and re install. People are too quick to blame the
software of the game before they realise that all the crap they install on
their pc just kills the game.
A gaming pc should be for gaming not home media centre, small business
office and general porn downloads. Buy a laptop for that shizz.

/this.
got a few mates with the same trouble (one even with 20 fps on a quad core).
first fix the game, then think about options.

If it's any consolation, about half my friends cannot play comfortably
(10-40FPS, where as before it was easily 30-80FPS) anymore.

Sure game play is something to work on, but performance should always be
first.

According to Steam stats, since CSS OB update, the playercount has gone
much
down. Even CS 1.6 has more players these days than CSS. The ratio used to
be
10000-20000 more in favor of CSS in the past. This game needs more than
just
engine upgrade. New maps and new features and most importantly of all, a
working game. So many players have some sort of issues after the engine
change.

I don't see weapon upgrades coming.

Sorry for off topic for srcds but just throwing it out there as an idea.
Do you think valve will bring in weapon upgrades like tf2 style for css.
This could be an opt in/out for server admins so clan wars stay strictly
on
a level playing field but casual/public gaming could have a whole new
lease
of life.
After the engy update we had a big drop in player count on css so maybe
it
would put a bit of spark back in the game.
Before you all scream "No don't do it" As I said if this is a opt in/out
system I think it could convert alot of tf2 players back into source
which
have since been lost.
Just a thought!
