I was able to play by joining again without doing anything about it. Actually, it seems to help if I let things load and join the team very slowly, and then slowly pick a class and avoid hitting the scoreboard right away but I can't prove that clicking things fast is the culprit either.

Wouldn't it be possible, maybe not now but in future updates, to have the option to roll-back to a working and stable state? I don't mean an option per-server, but an option for Valve to say "this update is so bad, we'll bring back everyone to the previous stable version!".

I can really sympathize with how stressing this must be for the people at Valve working on these issues. I can understand that the harm has already been done and that everyone is working really hard to solve these issues with daily patches. However, for many months the quality of the patches have been hurtful to the community. As a server administrator, it's not really fun having to deal with these problems weekly. As a player, it's just plain not cool to feel like we're constantly beta testing new things instead of playing the game. I don't want to insult or offend anyone but something has to give, things have to change. It's been suggested to use the beta branch to push updates, let us do a bigger testing than Valve can do internally and if it works, then push those updates to the stable branch. This seems like a great idea to me, maybe there are reasons why this isn't practical to Valve(Linux and many project works this way) but whatever solution you guys come up with, things can't be like this forever. It's not healthy for all us server admins, it's not healthy for the community and its players, and I certainly don't think it's healthy for Valve employes to put themselves in situation where they are probably stressed to get things working as fast as possible.

Quoting DontWannaName! <[email protected]>:

I had that crash as well as soon as I first joined after the update. I
verified my files and started again. Worked fine.

The first thing that happened to me was a crash after joining a team. I've
had at least one report already of a player who crashed 6-7 times on joining
a team.
