Yea, the first thing I am going to do is write a Nagios/Icinga test script for this and start polling. I am sure Valve expects this, or at least they should.

It should be noted that you can add the port on the end of the IP in the URI and it resolves just fine. This is important for people who stack servers on a single IP.
