The monster is a general-purpose Steam client tool... I think it's also used by developers to push updates to Steam; at least that's what the other commands look like. (Disclaimer: I have no idea, I'm not a SteamWorks licensee.) > With the new SteamCMD, this is what you, apparently, have to do to get > similar behavior: > > ./steamcmd.sh +@ShutdownOnFailedCommand 1 +login "anonymous" > +force_install_dir /mydir/mygame +app_set_config 90 mod czero +app_update > "90 -beta beta" +exit Or, you know, put the humongous list of commands into a file and use +runscript. "./steamcmd.sh +runscript update_czero.scmd" is even shorter than the ./steam variant. Yes, the tool has a hell lot more options, and yes, it is therefore more cumbersome to use, but I'm sure all of us have written a set of scripts to help us in our day-to-day operations anyway, so what's one more? And, for the sake of fairness... you would also have to slap "-beta beta" onto the ./steam command line.
