Is it possible to install windows server files from linux using steamcmd?
Nope, you'll have to use one of those third-party Steam download tools
that aren't sanctioned by Valve.

Thanks, kinda what I thought. I mount the drive on a linux box, and it would be convenient to be able to update the server then and there from linux. I'm guessing steamcmd sends the platform to the server and only makes content for that platform available. It seems to me to be way too much trouble to figure out a way to hack it to send different platform info, if that is even possible.

Are there third party steam download tools other than the Valve tools? Huh - did not know that. Might be worth looking into if said tool is safe and reliable.
