PS: Of course, I am also the guy with 5.25-inch floppy drive, 3.5-inch floppy

working getting the 8-external drive working. So, maybe I is not the best

Just move / rename the files and see. If it breaks, move them back.
It's safe in the sense that, unless you stub your toe or something, you
won't be hurt doing it.
