Probably this was due to my own stupidity.
This code doesn't work:
create :send, :available_to => "Guest",
:params => [ :invitee, :championship ],
:become => :sent
For some reason the transition with name :send doesn't work. Probably
because there is already one method named send, but I'm not sure.
I think this worth a mention in the manual.
