The recommended versions of Ruby for Hobo are 1.8.7 and 1.9.2. Not 1.9.2-head, but the latest 1.9.2 stable.
Hobo 1.0 is better tested on 1.8.7, and 1.3 is better tested on 1.9.2, although both Hobos have been tested on both rubies. 1.0 is also well tested on JRuby 1.6. So you should be good.
