Hi Brandon, Yes, this is alive :D.
Hobo 2.1 is stable with Rails 4.0.x and Ruby 2.1, so you should be able to build an app happily with these versions. We have plans to support next versions of Rails, but we don't have dates yet. There is certainly a backlog of issues to be checked/improved (see github repository), but nothing that should prevent you from developing a nice app. And if there is, you can count on getting someone to give you a hand or fix Hobo if necessary. To sum up: we are slow, but we are alive!
