Hello Francis,

>Why dos if there is linux&co?

I know DOS and am used to it. Linux is different and
I am not used to it.
If I learn Linux will I have to learn new stuff for every distro?
m m m . . .
No real reason for SEAL

>Perhaps because of the pc resources?
>There is 98lite http://www.litepc.com/98lite.html
>but perhaps even that is to heavy...

Yes this is a good idea in theory
- probably working very well on a clean install
It lost me data in the past
(OK I did not exactly install as I should have done . . .
- it was my fault I think - LOL )

>For diehards and 286's that should have died there is ELKS
>http://elks.sourceforge.net/

Interesting . . .
and incomplete - sort of working
Do you think this is the best/easisest of the single disk type of Linuxes?

>If you really want dos why Seal if there is Win3.11 (calmira.de delicious)?
>Perhaps because of Microsoft Moloch?

That is a good question. I suppose the answer is one of development potential
as opposed to abandonment. Win 3.11 was very good.
I think I might miss some of the software that does not run on it and I might not
have graphic drivers etc (or be inclined to search for them)
Win 3.11 is dead because MS do not support it
- in fact it was excellent and just when MS had a working system
- they abaondoned it for Win 95 (which did not work perfectly)
- but when I had both on my system I found even with its limitations I was spending my
time in Win 95

>There is Breadbox Ensemble http://www.breadbox.com/ akaGEOS.
>Not free as in beer.

I remember when I downloaded this I thought it was excellent.
Shame it costs - but wonderful. Thanks for the reminder. :-)
I think this is practically unknown (never heard of it when I was in education)
but deserves recognition - seems very stable.

>Or just run the gui over the network? http://toastytech.com/guis/dvx2.html

Very interesting link for me - as I went into the other GUI's - many thanks :-)

>Otherwise don't use gui in dos and just desqview (abandonware?) for
>multitasking:

Caused nothing but problems when I used it before - maybe this version works - dunno .
. .

:-)
good luck with that

. . .

I have not tried it yet . . .
