Yes this is a good suggestion.

Examples:

  printer3 is unqualified.

  printer3.local. in mDNS is a LQDN.

  printer3.sitelocal. (or any of the <giberish>.special-tld variants,
  including any based on ULA or alignment of the stars) in DNS is a
  LQDN.

  printer3.<global-dns-domain>. is a FQDN.

Note that for both LQDN and FQDN above, a trailing dot exists.
printer3.local.<global-dns-domain>. is and always was a valid FQDN
even before mDNS existed.  local is only reserved when used as a TLD.
