There's a third alternative: help MIF to get it right. The work is certainly in MIF's charter, and homenet has bitten off a pretty big chunk, so duplicate work is worth avoiding. At the same time, I think MIF is in fact crucial to homenet, so if you want to see homenet succeed it's in your interests to help with the work MIF is doing as well.
