Violently agreed. There are definite feelings in ICANN-land that the IETF didn't consult enough over RFC 6761, and adding a new TLD reserved for technical purposes REQUIRES a careful liaison process (to establish that it *is* a technical rather than a commercial or policy-based TLD name). Given that there are currently 11 commercial applications* to delegate the TLD home., I think the first step for the draft in question is to choose a new name. It's close to the definition of insanity to compete with the several million dollars already paid to ICANN. * Search for "home" at https://gtldresult.icann.org/application-result/applicationstatus/viewstatus Brian > > - Ralph > > >> I'm not convinced that it >> would be safe for the IETF to make such a special-use registration at >> this point without an explicit declaration from ICANN not only that >> they wanted not to delegate for an indeterminate period of time, but >> that they would like the special-use registration as well. >> >> Best regards, >> >> A >> >> -- >> Andrew Sullivan >> [email protected] >> >> _______________________________________________ >> homenet mailing list >> [email protected] >> https://www.ietf.org/mailman/listinfo/homenet > > _______________________________________________ > homenet mailing list > [email protected] > https://www.ietf.org/mailman/listinfo/homenet > _______________________________________________ homenet mailing list [email protected] https://www.ietf.org/mailman/listinfo/homenet
