That's exactly the point. If my PC can discover my printer, media device etc. 
today if it is on the same link and we are introducing home networks with 
multiple links, I want this discovery to seamlessly work across links without 
needing to update my PC's operating system.

Sure, nobody does hinder anyone from doing new cool and shiny stuff and 
inventing protocols which require host changes, but it doesn't absolve us from 
fixing the existing stuff. In the end it just means, we now have increased 
complexity because we have to both support the new and shiny and the old and 
boring and expected-to-still-work stuff.
