I run into some troubles when installing Sebek Client (version 3.2.0b) on my
honeypot (Fedora 7 - Linux 2.6.21 kernel),
Firstly, when I run ./configure, the system tells me that it can not find
af_packet.c in .../net/packet, so i have to copy one from the kernel source
to this path.
Secondly, I can not operate the 'MAKE' command after operating 'configure',
the infomation displayed in the screen are like the following:
...
patch ./src/af_packet.c ./src/af_packet.diff
patching file ./src/af_packet.c
Hunk #1 FAILED at 73
Hunk #2 FAILED at 1042
Hunk #3 FAILED at 1074
Hunk #4 FAILED at 1086
Hunk #5 FAILED at 1918
5 out of 5 hunks FAILED --saving rejects to file ./src/af_packet.c.rej
Thirdly, I manually patch "af_packet.c" according to "af_packet.diff", but
I still run into a lot of errors when running MAKE, errors are like the
following:
af_packet.c: linux/config.h : no such file...
(This is a matter-of-course because the af_packet.c contains such
lines:#include <linux/*.*>, which are not in Sebek Client package).
I had thought it should be OK to directly run
"./configure"-->"make"-->"./sbk_install.sh", but it didn't.
Could any one help me solve this problem?
Thanks in advance.
You need to use older kernels, It works with 2.6.15, I think any newer
kernel should give problems, and would require sebek to be modified.

Same exact problem happened to me too and I agree with Max. Switching
over to older kernel solved the problem. Also older kernels may have
more known vulnerabilities that can be exploited :)
