Hi all,

I'm new to the list, although not entirely new to honeywall having set it up and run it previously on dedicated hardware and in vmware on windows 2k3 server. I am pretty new to linux also, but I am fairly good at learning in real time.

Despite the honeystick howto ( http://www.ukhoneynet.org/research/honeystick-howto/ ) on the uk honeynet site being somewhat out of date (Oct-2005) I managed to build the honeystick using a 2.6.18 kernel. All is well and good except for the install of honeywall 1.3 b1 on vmware server 1.04. The installation is excruciatingly slow, and eventually fails with a "could not allocate requested partitions" error after a couple of hours, yes a couple of hours! Although I have setup a 1.4 Gb virtual disk for the purpose. I have googled much, but found no help. Something is not right, but I am not yet experienced enough to discover what.

I am using a core2duo T5600 based laptop with intel i915GM chipset and 1Gb DDR2 ram

Can someone offer some advice or links to help me resolve this please?

I am waiting now for an install on a virtual IDE disk to complete or fail, after the install failing a couple of times on a virtual SCSI disk. If this fails I will try honeywall 1.2, however if this issue will re-occur with 1.2 perhaps someone can save me sometime by letting me know.

At such an early stage in my honeywall/linux develop/building experience, I don't I expect I will be able to help others much myself but I will try where ever possible.

Thanks
Dave
