Hi All

As I am also new to linux distros I find typing or cut n pasting the complete
error from any OS in Google normally finds the answer.

http://www.unixguide.net/linux/faq/09.24.shtml
http://www.unixguide.net/linux/faq/09.24.shtml

"init: Id "x" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes."
In most distributions this means that the system is booting by default
into runlevel 5, which is supposed to respawn (re-start again after
it's been exited) a graphical login via xdm, kdm, gdm, or whatever,
and the system can't locate the program.

However, "Id" can also indicate the absence or misconfiguration of
another program, like mingetty, if init tries to respawn itself more
than 10 times in 2 minutes.

I am sure not an expert but it looks like either the OS that the VMare is
running on or the VMware.

I am using VMWare workstation 7.1.1.  You will have to forgive
me but I am a bit new with Linux, so I am not sure how I can get to that message
log you are talking about at the system just repeats the error over and over
and never goes any further.  I have tried rebuilding from scratch 3 times with
no luck.  Going to build it on a physical workstation (once I get the resources
in), but hoping to get it running on VMWare in the meant time.

You know, I've installed
Honeywall at least a dozen times and I've never seen that error.  What are
your logs telling you?  "Id 'x'" isn't exactly a lot to go
on.  Maybe if you look at the dmesg and messages log you'll see something
occurring when that message pops up that will help narrow down what process is
causing this.  Also, what VMware product/version are you using?  I've
used Honeywall on Workstation 6.5 and ESXi 4.0.
