Consider your age and general health and muscle tone. And ask your doctor.

When I had hernia surgery, I waited a full month before I cautiously began to 
play again. But a friend who also had hernia surgery, who had a much smaller 
incision because it was laparoscopic, seemed to recover at least three times 
that fast-he was carrying his grocery bags up the stairs within 2 days!

Listen to your body and use caution when you pick up horn playing again.
