I play a Holton Merker and I really like my Humes & Berg tunable mute (the big awkward conical one). It has an even tone & response in all the registers. My horn mentor, a semi-retired professional, was so impressed with my Humes & Berg, he bought one for himself and dumped the straight mute he'd been using for nearly half a century.
