I second Valerie's recommendation of the H&B tunable mute. After losing my
standard H&B about a year ago, I got the tunable model and have been 100%
satisfied. It has what I consider a true muted horn tone rather than the
dull muffled sound of the standard H&B. For example, it is perfect for the
muted passages in The Pines of Rome (which happens to be on the program for
our next orchestra concert). Also, being easily tunable, it leaves no
excuse for playing muted passages out-of-tune. (I play a Yamaha 667VS.)
