Hello, My name is Joni Rice and I am a graduate student working on a small research project concerning the use of the horn in orchestral music. Specifically, I am researching the history of the division between low and high horns. Although I have all of the historical information I could possibly need, I think that it would be very beneficial to my project if I could also include the opinions of modern players. Thus, if you have a few minutes, could you please answer the following questions (either by replying to the list or by messaging me directly at [email protected].
1. Do you consider yourself a low or high horn player, or do you perform equally in all registers? 2. Do you think that specialization in one register or another is ever beneficial? 3. What is your personal opinion of the division between low and high horns? Is the division still relevant, or has modern music (or modern techniques) made this division absolete? Also, please include some information about yourself, including your name and your level of playing experience (student. amature, professional) so that I can cite you appropriately in my research. Thank you very much for your help. -Joni Rice _______________________________________________ post: [email protected] unsubscribe or set options at https://pegasus.memphis.edu/cgi-bin/mailman/options/horn/archive%40jab.org
