Hi Bill! Back in Mon, 05 Mar 2007 I wrote some similar hint: Reply to David Goldbergs post from Fri, 02 Mar 2007 10:47:05 -0800: That's almost the same as I wrote on Fri, 26 Jan 2007 09:17:28 -0800 in this list: I also use the plastic tubing, not only in the hotel, but also for long trips in the car. The length of this tubing is 530cm. It consists of 4 tubes put one above the other. The first tubes inner diameter just fits the mouthpiece. The second goes on the first etc. The length of the first tube is 103cm, the second 225cm, the third 137cm and the last 74cm. I didn't use a scale when I fitted this together. It was just cut and try. The effective lenght alltogether is 539cm minus 3x3cm where it stucks together. Makes 530cm, which is about the length of a Bb tuba. But there are no tapers unfortunately. So with this length you can play 4 octaves (5 Fs). The 'harmonics' vary quite big. But it makes a feeling like a horn in F. A very, very cheap one. And remember it is just to keep your embouchure in shape. And it is not easy to ride on the 'harmonics'. But very good to hold long tones. The notes are very easily bent up or down, so you can hold and find tones which are in tune to your listening to the car radio. :-) Dear purists on the list don't beat me for this hint. Best regards, Hans Illich Austria _______________________________________________ post: [email protected] unsubscribe or set options at https://pegasus.memphis.edu/cgi-bin/mailman/options/horn/archive%40jab.org
