About nine or ten years ago I bought an Alexander descant horn in B-flat and high F, and at the time (IIRC) was told the horn dated from the 1930s: http://www.rjmartz.com/horns/alexd/alexd.htm (I believe the horn is similar to the model 106 and not the 107 which has the stopping valve.)
This week I received an inquiry from a highly-respected horn historian questioning that early date and suggesting that it was more probably from post WW II. The only reference that I can find is a page from the 1967 Alexander catalog that shows models 105 (single high F) and 107, but not 106, and so far I have not received a reply from Gebr. Alexander. Does anyone here know when the double descant horn in B-flat and high F was invented and by whom, and also about when Gebr. Alexander first introduced theirs?
