Are you sure about that 8D? Wasn't the precursor to the 8D the 6D, which has 
the usual four rotor valves? I once had in my possession, with the oppurtunity 
to buy, a very early Conn double that I was told was made in the 30's or 40's. 
It was a Schmidt copy in every way, with three rotors and the piston change 
valve. Has anyone else heard of a Conn with three piston valves?
