Hello Steve, ... what a curious discussion .... people should understand the foreign language text so these errors might not occur. But they play the Gliere Concerto using a "Fluegelhorn", baroque horn concertos with a so called new "corno da caccia" (also a fluegelhorn), replace any instrument in an ensemble according to availability, - - and the audience "eats" it. But the same musicians search for the very, very, very original version THE SAME TIME. Isn´t that a bit comical ? By the way: soprano Fröhlich sang Ständchen ...... see h & d. Ooops, these foreign language correction programs ....... And to Ralph: if one has not heard a piece in a certain setting, it does not implicate, that ones own way doing it is the most correct. But one has to accept a founded advice. And finally: does it matter at all ? If done nicely, music is alive & will remain alive, even composed nearly 200 years ago. ######################################################################## Am 26.08.2010 um 05:38 schrieb Steven Ovitsky: > One reason that there are performances and recordings with soprano is > because there are many more competent lyric sopranos than there are > competent high tenors. > > I performed it in June with a mezzo.
