I previously replied privately to Michael, but this is a followup for
comment by the list.

It occurred to me that a simple solution would be to purchase or
construct duplicate valve levers for valves 2 and 3. (This is safer
than experimenting with the existing levers, and allows the horn to be
restored someday to original equipment.) If the pinky hook is removed
(Michael already said he uses a strap, but a duck foot would be as good)
then could the paddles be reconfigured (a fancy word for "bent") so that
the horn fingers with 134 instead of 123? The pinky valve might need an
extension, but my intuition is that after making such a change, a week
or two of scale practice would easily transfer our common learned
fingering patterns to the new configuration.

I wonder if anyone else has any insight whether this transfer to a 134
horn would work, both physiologically and mechanically.
