Most people are not going to sight read the horn parts in Rossini's Armida. They are quite difficult and *extremely* exposed. The Met orchestra's horn players did a magnificent job on both the opening night of the production (12 Apr 2010) and on the Saturday matinee broadcast of 1 May 2010. On 12 Apr 2010 the horn section was:
1st horn: Brad Gemeinhardt (Third horn normally) 2nd horn: Michelle Baker 3rd horn: Javier Gandara 4th horn: Barbara Jostlein For the 1 May 2010 broadcast it was 1st horn: Joseph Anderer 2nd horn: Michelle Baker 3rd horn: Javier Gandara 4th horn: Barbara Jostlein This information comes directly from one of the players listed above and is Gospel; it isn't something I'm surmising.
