I myself have recently made some headway on my low register after having played an unnatural amount of high horn for a college student(I still am, but not as bad).
First and foremost, DO IT EVERYDAY. I make a point to play through Shost. 5 at least once a day. One thing I like is to practice is the sensation of playing low horn well. Occasionally I'll pull out my bordogni etudes(aka the Rochut trombone book) and play them written key and in concert pitch to work different areas of low horn. By the end of my session on these, I have a genuinely good sound. Obviously, this is unacceptable because real life doesn't allow you to work yourself down(or up for that), but it's a start... Although a different mouthpiece could help, it's not really practical to switch. I think it's more beneficial to just work to get a good sound on whatever you normally play. One way I keep honest with low intonation is play with recordings. It may not sound sharp, but it is. For me at least.
