Disclaimer - Since I have a good horn I don't keep close tabs
on the Vienna horn market so some of the above information
may be out of date, I may have forgotten some makes .... and

In selling a Vienna horn recently, I did some research and I can vouch for
much of what Jerry Old related in his post (excepting only opinions about the
quality of the instruments, on which I have no particular opinion).

I will add a personal opinion: if you can buy a horn that played in a Vienna
horn section, then you are buying a horn with a pedigree. Since relatively
few are made, a horn which has made the grade in a section ought to be a good
horn. There are lists on the web of the horns that section members are
playing, so that can be a good guide to what to buy, as well.
