This instrument is similar to those over-the-shoulder E-flat-alto horns
used by the Salvation Army bands. I had one before & used it during a
rehearsal for the Rhinegold beginning with Sawallisch (sneeking into the
pit at last moment). You cannot imagine the success I had. Great fun.

Did you know, that they had helicon-like (over the shoulder) hunting
horns some 200+ years ago ?
