Does your High School allow any Independent study classes? If so, look into that. My Senior year, a clarinetist in my band was able to do this and at the end of the semester presented a recital as her final. Also, If your High School has a "zero" period (for example school started at 8:30, but there are classes offered at 7), you can take one of this causing you to have a "free" period which you can use for additional practice (this is what I was able to do my Senior year). Those are just some options if your school will allow it. Hope this may help you.

Professor Pizka,
I am maybe going to quit band next year, and join ROTC (sortof like
the Army...but not combat training.) becuase you get ALOT of credits for
highschool graduation. The problem is though, I wish I could take a course were you
get 1 and a half hours of only solid practicing.....but no such course. I'd
have to fit all my practicing in after school (3pm.)... Any advice on how to do
this? Currently i practice after school from 3:30pm-6 or 7pm, but I hear
practicing should BE SPACED.

Michael
