Ah, that's how it works! I've been trying to figure out for ages why buildings were sometimes forced to be square and sometimes not. In African cities in particular, buildings are oriented at all sorts of angles, and forced-square is a nuisance (have to hold down the SHIFT key to override). And the Join trick is new to me. Thanks.
