That is a bit of comparing apples to oranges, you will probably want to use both. I don’t use OSMtracker myself, so not sure the specifics, but if it’s using cell tower location vs. GPS, then it may not be very good in Zambia and will depend on how many cell towers, signal strength, etc. If it uses the phone’s GPS (if it has one) then you should be ok. Field papers is very ‘low-tech’ – basically you’re sketching on a map which you can then upload to trace/edit from – so it’s only as good as the person drawing. You might also think about taking pictures to either use in JOSM, or you can check out Mapillary (https://www.mapillary.com/) so you can have a picture/visual when you get back to the office for editing. In general, I would suggest a workflow such as: - Trace as much ahead of time remotely/using imagery – having major roads, bigger/landmark buildings will help navigate/use Field Papers - Have as many people with OSMtracker or a GPS, etc. recording their tracks – great for getting roads, etc. - Have other people with Field Papers, Mobile collection apps, etc. marking things like business details (things hard/impossible to see from overhead) and taking pictures Then when you go to edit you should use all of the available data to make the best map!
