Hi,

In context of its activities to promote the OpenStreetMap project in Niger
and to enrich the Niger map database, OSM Niger will organize a large
Mapathon on Monday, August 14, 2017 from 9:00 am at the Numerique
Francophne Campus in Niamey here
<https://www.openstreetmap.org/?mlat=13.49997&mlon=2.09340#map=19/13.49997/2.09340>
.

This Mapthon project aims to map the Nigerien cities of Tahoua and Diffa in
order to improve the map data base of these cities.
The choice of these cities is not fortuitous.
Indeed, the Tahoua region was affected in September 2016 by the fever of
the Rift Valley. This resulted in loss of life. The city of Tahoua will
also host the summer activities of December 18, 2017, on the occasion of
the commemoration of the 59th anniversary of the proclamation of the
republic of Niger called Tahoua Sokola. The creation of the map data will
undoubtedly serve the tourists who will participate to these festivities.
As for the region of Diffa, for several years is affected by the conflict
of Boko Haram. This city located in the south of the country on the border
of Chad and Nigeria is one of the big city of the country in this zone. The
production of cartographic data will be used by humanitarian NGOs on the
ground to coordinate their humanitarian activities in the region.

If you will have time join us on the tasks:

Best regards,
