We use SmarterMail for all of our domains and it works pretty good-better than IMail. I am a fan of most of Google's apps, but the concern I would have is the privacy of the e-mail. Google's privacy policies generally permit them to use data they collect for whatever they want. I'm sure this would not include the details of your e-mail, but they may provide analytical data at some point similar to alexa. Who knows. Just read the privacy policy and terms of service before you use it for anything you want to deem as 'secure'. Also, I'm sure their terms permit them to delete data past a certain date. For instance, the Google Analytics terms allow them to delete data over 24 months old. A lot of people don't know this and therefore don't download their data for archival.

I've been using SmarterMail for many years and have been very happy with it, especially the latest version (5 I believe). I have the 50 domain/250 user license, if you get the enterprise version you can share calendars and contacts, much like Exchange. If you want to play around with it some let me know and I'll set you up an account. -James Ricky Fritzsching wrote: http://www.smartertools.com/SmarterMail/ On 3/4/09 11:51 AM, "Seth Bienek" <[email protected]> wrote: Hey Mark, I use Google Apps for Domains and have absolutely no complaints: http://google.com/a Take Care, Seth From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Mark Davis Sent: Wednesday, March 04, 2009 11:47 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [houcfug] mail server? hey guys, Our corporate mail server (iMail) is very long in the tooth and badly needs replacing. Does anyone have a recommendations for a mail server for a company of 45 +/- people, all of whom work remotely? All our servers are hosted off-site. I don't think the powers-that-be will pony up for Exchange Server, nor do I think they should. There has to be something smaller, cheaper ad easier to maintain.
