I do this with fonts and JavaScript on forms and with a little ColdFusion
script and embedded fonts when generating PDFs. Generating it by image can be
very hacky as typical image scaling logic can wreck the barcode.

Subject: [houcfug] Barcode generator for Cold Fusion

Hiya, folks, I'm looking for something that can generate a barcode (code 39)
as an image for Cold Fusion pages. The previous developer who worked on this
project had used something from
http://www.webcaterers.com/barcodes/default.cfm?NavBar=HOME but we
discovered this had a bug (at least for code 39) where 7's would be misread
as 2's.

I have a plan B in mind, but it includes ASP.net. I've Googled for other
solutions, such as Java, but some requires a special font which isn't ideal,
since the web pages are open to the public. And I'm a bit wary of getting
something with a bug again. :-)

If you have done something with barcodes in CF that actually works, let me
know. (Oh, and this is for Cold Fusion 8.)

Thanks,
Angeli Wahlstedt

PS: I'm sorry, but I'm not looking for a programmer -- I'm just looking for
a solution. :-)
