Hi all, I was planning on buying an HP Envy 13 but then I saw on Google that people were having issues with this laptop and Linux.
According to my research there are two separate issues: - Clickpad is not working out of the box (but a patch exist and apparently, editing Xorg.cong on Ubuntu would suffice) - Switchable graphics (Intel/ATI) is not handled well by Linux kernel nor by xorg. I know that there were commit in Linux kernel v2.6.35 (called "switcheroo" [1]) supposed to handle switchable graphics on kernel side. Has anyone tried recent kernel v2.6.35 release candidates on HP Envy (with switchable graphics)? It is available for Ubuntu v10.04 (Lucid) here: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.35-rc1-lucid/ Kind regards, Chris.
