Hi Chris, yes i am running 2.6.35 on my Envy 15-1110 GTO

i have not tried the switchable graphics feature, btw why would you worry about it ?
as far as i recall the Envy only has a discrete ATI GPU but no Intel .  are you
thinking of a feature like Apples MacBook pro ?

in any case i am running 10.04 with the latest  2.6.35 kernel, jacob from this group was so
kind to help me with his patch to fix the fglrx issues. also you will have to patch the USB3 bus
to make suspend working (at least on my system)

cheers bernd

Hi all,

I was planning on buying an HP Envy 13 but then I saw on Google that people were having issues with this laptop and Linux.

According to my research there are two separate issues:
- Clickpad is not working out of the box (but a patch exist and apparently, editing Xorg.cong on Ubuntu would suffice)
- Switchable graphics (Intel/ATI) is not handled well by Linux kernel nor by xorg.

I know that there were commit in Linux kernel v2.6.35 (called "switcheroo" [1]) supposed to handle switchable graphics
on kernel side. Has anyone tried recent kernel v2.6.35 release candidates on HP Envy (with switchable graphics)?

It is available for Ubuntu v10.04 (Lucid) here:

Kind regards,
Chris.
