If they were on Quark 6+ I'd say you could get by without a rip. In Os9 you'll not want to print out of quark with the driver. Often text blocs are misplaced, low res files printed etc. Since you are concerned about colour , and want to use files in different color spaces, you'll need to buy a XT ( I have one here never used) called CompassPro XT by Praxisoft. It allows conversion of images through ICC profiles and proofing, also spot color mappings. > HP appears to sell a software rip for this printer, and additionally > sell a version of the Best Rip as well, though I think > this can only be installed as a client on a machine running Mac OS 10. > I would very much appreciate any insight in > creating an effective workflow for them , given the facts. > Martin Paul > The EFI-Best rip is OSX only. The HP rip was OS9 too last time I looked and tested it but truth is I haven't printed in Os9 since. It's an excellent desktop type of rip and works very well now. Two years ago that wasn't the case, luckily they had fixed it to work well in Panther and with the 30/130. -- Neil Snape photographer Paris France [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.neilsnape.com Website: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HPDesignJet_Printers Post message: [email protected] Subscribe: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe: [EMAIL PROTECTED] List owner: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Yahoo!
