Hi Don, There are a lot of RIPs out there and I guess from there, your question. Each RIP tends to have its speciality, but I think what you want to look for is ease of use and accuracy.
Another thing you need to look at, is the workflow. Working with fine art images, your workflow will mainly be an RGB workflow and when doing proofing, it will be mainly a CMYK one. The EFI RIP is very good in the CMYK workflow, but a RIP like PosterJet is very good in both. It's very easy to use as well, not to mention one of the fastest around. The catch? PosterJet doesn't have a MAC version or client at the moment. But if you have a PC around, you can use that as the server and then print from the MAC. Hope this helps a bit.
