Hi Michael, I can generalize from observing my DJ30 but I think it might be the same thing. There's a small tab at the bottom right corner of the cover when it's in open position. This tab breaks the path of a photo switch to signal the printer the lid is closed. I cut a small piece of scrap inkjet paper and tape it in the slot. Just be careful not to let any thing from your shirt pocket fall into the printer while it's printing :) This always worries me when I peer down the printer when it's doing its thing.
