I think some perspective is in order. The 130 costs $1295, right? The
24 inch epson costs $2900 right? The new HP costs $3400 or so.
Granted, these others may be better in several ways. If you are using
these printers a lot you can make money worth them, but if you
aren't, how can you justify the higher costs from am business
standpooint?
I have seen lots of gripes about the designjet 130 but i have
basically had a good experience with mine. i have a plain jane 130
with a home made roll feed and have had it for about a year and a
half. I have been using OCE photo perfect satin, 7 mil which looks
nice and costs about 1/2 of the HP photo satin. I am convinced that
is is moistly the inks that make for print longevity.
I either use it for proofing page layouts or for printing 24x36
prints which I frame and sell. The only issue I have had really ids
some minot roller marks. This is on thinner papers and I find that
when i dry mount the prints they go away anyway. this past week I
printed $400 worth of prints on it with excellent results.
Bottom line- everything can be improved but this is a great printer
for the money. When it breaks, I will look at something else.
