Before I ask my big question, I feel compelled to tell everyone that I've been watching, reading, and thinking about all the messages you've posted here since joining this group in September 2006, the month I bought my first DJ90R. I've learned much, continue to learn, and I thank you all for that. I'm not a career photographer/ illustrator as so many of you are. I'm a college physics teacher who's also addicted to photography. My Canon i9900 broke down so I bought the 90R. As you all talk about RIP, I see software nearly as expensive as the printer.
My Question: Using my (one year old, non-Intel) iMac G5 computer, Photoshop CS2, and the DJ90R ... should/must I purchase an additional piece of software in order to print AND get the same colors I get on the screen of the iMac? For the Canon i9900, what I saw on my iMac is exactly what the Canon printed. It was wonderful. That still does not happen with the 90R. I've called the HP Support people, and the top guy walked me through how I should set the PSCS2. I've done that, but the prints are too thin and some objects come out with deviated color (a cobalt blue butterfly prints out deep purple, while the rest of the image, including blue sky, turns out fine ... except thin. Yes, I flattened the image. To off set the 'thin', I've gotten in the habit of increasing the contrast of the image by 20-25% and that usually works. Can someone guide me on what an individual photographer like me can or should do so that screen = print? AND, thanks so much.
