Found the part on ebay shortly after I posted this on May 19 - no further
need for the part.

Subject: [HPDesignJet_Printers] In search of parts for Designjet 650c and
350C

Need either a drop detect sensor with cable, or the service station
with the drop detect sensor and cable in it for a 36"/E carriage
(should be the same for D and E carriages though) Designjet 650C. We
put a new belt on, it worked a few days then the drop detect error
came up (and yes it has been cleaned).

Also I just picked up a Designjet 350C (C4700A E carriage) for myself
that had been in storage for a while - has the optional roll feeder
and the bar that is supposed to have a sliding cutter in it. The
cutter and knob that slides side to side is missing - only the bar
attached to the right and left covers with the 3 paper holdoffs is
there. It needs a belt badly but I have that already and ordering an
encoder strip as mice chewed the plastic top when it was in storage
(unbelievably they didn't damage anything else!) Everything else is in
good and working order so far - just need the cutter if possible.

Since this is my first post in this group I ought to note that I have
been working HP equipment including plotters over 20 yrs - an ASP/AWDP
with APS Designjet and Laserjet certification since 2000 - computer
and electronic equipment since I went active duty Air Force in 76. I
retired in 95 went part time self employment and in 2000 went full
time. I'm in almost the middle of Kentucky about 25 miles west of
Elizabethtown, 30 SW of Ft. Knox, 25 north of Mammoth Cave NP. About
the only plotters I haven't worked on yet are the 8000 thru 10000
models (I'm not paying for resident training for something I can test
on later). I work on about any printer, plotter, copier or fax there
is even way back to dot matrix and daisy wheel. I also have people
ship their equipment for repair and return but not plotters and some
of the larger lasers due to the size and ease of UPS doing the OOPS
that they have been come to be associated with. I know how they work
after 15 months full time as a Toshiba laptop tech for them in
Louisville with the WorldPort hub there. I have had people bring
machines to me or have me come to them from local all the way to
Dayton OH. I've also gotten HP parts for people at reduction
(sometimes) from list and had them drop shipped to the customer. Drop
me an email if I can help anyone.
