Bob,

You are.  Send 'em back - I just bought a set direct from HP just to get the longest expiration date possible - they were running a free overnight shipping
thing there for a while...

I just went through this with HP - I was having lots of trouble with clogging jets all of a sudden (right before a big print job, of course) - opon checking the machine, I
found that the ones that were dying were past their expiration date. The tech support guy
(who actually seemed kind of competent and didn't appear to be in India) said that it appears that age is the biggest factor in when heads on the 130 go out
(that and apparently there is this fine mist of ink that gets all over the heads/contacts - I ended up using the "coffee filter on a stick" thing to clean the
head contacts in the machine at the tech droid's instruction (funny how I end up having to do the work when I forked out for a service contract, but I digress), which
fixed some stuff (and actually made others "worse", in that the the printer now said there was a problem with a head or two).

Best,

Hello, All –

I have a Designjet 130 that is 18 months old. I do large color photo prints, have a page count of 811 on the machine and have run 981 ml’s of toner through it. The prints all look great. The original print heads are in the machine and they have expiration dates of  Feb 14,2008.  What happens on the expiration date? Does the printer cease to print until they are replaced?  I ordered replacement print heads from Atlanta Network Tech. The new heads came in with expiration dates in April, May, and June of 2008. I’ve got a feeling I’m getting ripped off, right?
