I've had a 130NR since January 2005 and got a used 30N off eBay a couple of years ago. I've gone through between 150 and 200 cartridges and can only think of three times I changed a cartridge before the printer stopped and demanded a new one: twice because the electronics on magenta cartridges went bad -- reporting they'd used 200% of their ink -- and once I wanted a job to print over night and I knew there wasn't enough light cyan to finish the job. (The Designjet Maintenance Utility was showing I'd used 104-105% of its ink at the time.) In my experience cartridges will generally go to 105% or so, and still aren't "dry" when the printer demands they're changed.
