HPDesignJet Printers & PlottersI had the same 10,000 dpi cut off when I tried
to print a file that was 8000x11,000 dpi. I lost the last two inches of the
print. I now keep an eye on the total file size before I print from Windows
PSCS!

Replace your USB cable and see if that helps. Also, what size files are you
sending to the printer? Mine chokes on 600 dpi prints. I think that the
buffer in the printer just can't handle it.

I got in touch with HP e-mail support, and they helped me solve my problem.
It involved reinstalling software, fixing permissions and updating firmware.
Has worked so far. The e-mail is below.

To ensure that all previously installed elements of the HP Designjet System
    Maintenance are
uninstalled successfully, please use the following steps:

    1. Drag any icons created by previous installs of the HP Designjet System
    Maintenance to
    the Trash.
    2. Double-click the hard drive icon (by default labeled Macintosh HD)
    located on the
    Macintosh desktop.
    3. Double-click Library.
    4. Double-click Printers.
    5. Double-click hp.
    6. Drag the Designjet System Maintenance folder to the Trash.
    7. Double-click the Utilities folder contained in hp
    8. Drag the HP Printer Selector file (in the Utilities folder) to the
    trash
    9. After checking the Trash for any files you may not want to delete, empty
    the Trash.
    10. Restart the Macintosh

    a. Click the Apple at the top-left corner of the screen.
    b. Click Restart.
    c. Click the Restart button in the window that appears.

We will now repair the disk permissions. To repair the disk permissions on
    the Macintosh,
    please use the following steps:

    1. Double-click the hard drive icon (by default labeled Macintosh HD).
    2. Double-click Applications.
    3. Double-click Utilities.
    4. Double-click Disk Utility.
    5. Select your hard drive volume on the left side of the Disk Utility. (by
    default labeled
    Macintosh HD).
    6. Click Repair Disk Permissions.
    7. Allow the utility to run until the message Permissions Repair complete
    appears.
    8. Select Disk Utility in the top menu bar, and select Quit Disk Utility.

Before proceeding, it will be necessary to download the latest version of
    the Utility from
our Web site. The latest version of the HP Designjet System Maintenance is
    available from
    the following URL:

HP designjet 30 130 series system maintenance for Mac OSX and driver users

    http://h20000.www2.hp

NOTE: It may be necessary to copy and paste the above URL into the web
address bar of an Internet Browser.

When you reach the above URL, click Download Now to begin downloading the
    installer.
Once the file has successfully downloaded, please use the following steps to
    run the HP
    Designjet System Maintenance installer:

    1. Double-click the U.04.00_GM.dmg icon from your Desktop or download
    location to mount the
    installer.
    2. Double-click the folder labeled Web Based.
    3. Double-click the installer icon located in the folder.
    4. Click the Install button at the bottom-right corner of the window that
    appears.
    5. Select Quit when the installation finishes successfully.

There should now be an icon on your Desktop entitled HP Designjet System
    Maintenance.
To run the HP Designjet System Maintenance, please use the following steps:

    1. Double-click HP Designjet System Maintenance.
    2. Select the printer from the list that appears and click Launch Utility.
    If the printer
is not in this window, click More Printers to select it.

The HP Designjet System Maintenance should open in a web browser. We
    recommend setting
Safari as the default browser to run the HP Designjet System Maintenance.

    To update the firmware:
    1. Click the Advanced Functions tab on the left side
    2. Click the Update Firmware link that will appear in the center of the
    window
    3. As the FW file has already been downloaded; click the selection to
be used in case you do not have an internet connection (bottom right of the
    window).
    4. Click the Choose File button and browse to the firmware file you
have already downloaded (bigben_D_05_04.fmw) and select it.
    5. Click the upgrade firmware button
    6. Once the firmware update has finished, the printer will be
automatically powered down. Wait a few seconds and then power up your
printer by pressing the "Power" key on the front panel

If the issue is still not satisfactorily resolved, please respond to this
e-mail and include the results of the troubleshooting detailed above so we
can better understand the present situation.

I will second the file size. If my HP 2500CP quits part way thru; I believe
it says buffer over flow or some other error. I reduce the dpi but it generally
happens when I print a file over 10,000 KB. I am printing engineering drawings
that can be over 10 foot long.
