Thank-you for your FreeBSD update. I will be glad to add your USB patch for hpiod once you have the select() timeout working. In the mean time I have added some of your patches in order to simplify your local FreeBSD port.
I did not add the GCC 2.95 specific patches, but I did add the __FreeBSD__ conditional compile defines.
