I use hplip-1.6.10 printing with two printers, first is a HP Officejet 5605z
All-in-One, second a HP Officejet 4212 All-in-One. Lately I tried to print
some photos on both printers, and I wanted an want flull-bleed photos 15x10
cm (6x4 in). With the OJ 5605z it workes just fine, but the OJ 4212 was
resisting the collaboration.
I was a litte bit annoyed, since the list of supported printers (
http://hplip.sourceforge.net/supported_devices/inkjet_aio.html) says, the OJ
4200er series depends to printer class DJ3600 and the Technical
Documentation ( http://hplip.sourceforge.net/tech_docs/device_classes.html)
says, that printers which depend to printer class DJ3600 likely support
full-bleed printing for certain paper sizes ( i.e. for paper 15x10cm/6x4in
full-bleed printing is supported!).
So I looked in the ppd-file for the OJ4200er (HP-OfficeJet_4200-hpijs.ppd)
supplied by HPLIP 1.6.10 and I found out, that here the printer class DJ3320
is used for it. So I tried to patch the ppd-file and (surprise?) it worked
(with my OJ 4212)!
I attached the patch for evaluating it by you an maybe apply it to the next
version of HPLIP.
What do you think about it?
