Have you looked over the install instructions for setting up mandriva on
the hplip website?
http://hplip.sourceforge.net
It really looks like something (PyQt or Qt) is missing..
Although if you used urpmi to install hplip it should have setup the
required deps..
Let me know if the instructions don't help.

This started after a recent update of Mandriva 2006. I am using
hplip-0.9.7-2.1.2006mdk. hplip-hpijs-0.9.8-3.1.2006mdk,
python-2.4.1-3mdk and python-base-2.4.1-3mdk. The printer is a
deskjet 5550. The printer works.
Suggestions appreciated.

I have PyQt-3.14.1 and devel installed. Tried to install mandriva cooker
hplip-0.9.11 but had dependency problems.
